Hi, everybody, and welcome back to top words. My name is Alisha and today we're going to be talking about 10 social media-related verbs. So let's get into it.

大家好,欢迎回到热门词汇。我叫Alisha,今天我们将讨论10个与社交媒体相关的动词。让我们开始吧。

Post, the first verb is post. So to post something means to upload something to the internet, to upload something to a social media website, like Facebook or Twitter or Instagram for example.

第一个动词是post。to post something意味着将某物上传到互联网,将某物上传到社交媒体网站,例如Facebook、Twitter或Instagram。

You can say to post to Twitter, to post to Facebook, to post to Instagram, to post to Snapchat, to post to Tumblr.

您可以说to post to Twitter, to post to Facebook, to post to Instagram, to post to Snapchat, to post to Tumblr。

Uploading your content, uploading texts or images to a social media service is posting something, to post something.

上传您的内容,将文本或图像上传到社交媒体服务就是posting something,to post something。

So in a sentence: I post pictures on Instagram every day. That's not true. Or I post information on Facebook every week. It's not necessarily true. In this sentence: I post on Instagram once a week or so.

例如:I post pictures on Instagram every day.这不是真的。或者I post information on Facebook every week.这不一定是真的。I post on Instagram once a week or so.

Add as a friend/follow, okay, the next verb is add as a friend or follow. So we use to add or to follow someone to mean to include them in our friend group or to follow their updates on social media in some way.

下一个动词是add as a friend或follow。我们用“add”或“follow”某人来表示将他们纳入我们的朋友圈或以某种方式关注他们在社交媒体上的更新。

So on Twitter, for example, we use follow a lot, to follow someone on Twitter. On Facebook, we can say to add someone as a friend or to add someone on Instagram for example.

例如,在Twitter上,我们经常使用“follow”,to follow someone on Twitter。在Facebook上,我们可以说to add someone as a friend或to add someone on Instagram。

We can use follow on Instagram as well. Basically these two words are interchangeable. You can use them in the same way. But I don't know, it's up to you, it's up to you really.

我们也可以在Instagram上使用“follow”。基本上这两个词是可以互换的。您可以以相同的方式使用它们。但我不知道,这取决于你,真的取决于你。

So interview sentences, let's see: I follow some really interesting people on Twitter or I follow a lot of friends on Instagram or do you follow me on Twitter or why didn't you follow me on Facebook.

例如:I follow some really interesting people on Twitter,或者I follow a lot of friends on Instagram,或者do you follow me on Twitter,或者why didn't you follow me on Facebook。

I don't know, something like this. in this sentence: She added me as a friend at the party; or another sentence: I don't follow him on Twitter.

我不知道,诸如此类。例如:She added me as a friend at the party;或者另一个句子:I don't follow him on Twitter。

Okay, unfriend, all right, the next verb is unfriend, to unfriend. So to unfriend someone is to remove them from your friends list.

下一个动词是unfriend。to unfriend someone就是将他们从你的朋友列表中删除。

So we can unfriend someone or you might also hear the word defriend someone, to unfriend or to defriend.

我们可以unfriend someone,或者您可能还会听到defriend someone。

And let's see there is one other word that we sometimes use, which is unfollow as well. So we have unfriend, defriend and unfollow.

我们有时还会使用另一个词,unfollow。我们有unfriend、defriend和unfollow。

These all mean to stop receiving updates from someone, to stop receiving news, to stop receiving text or pictures on social media from someone.

这些都意味着停止接收某人的更新、停止接收消息、停止接收某人在社交媒体上的文本或图片。

So in example sentences: My ex-boyfriend unfriended me on Facebook or I unfollowed that really annoying person or why did you unfollow me. Or in this sentence: He updates way too often; I'm going to unfriend him.

例如:My ex-boyfriend unfriended me on Facebook,或者I unfollowed that really annoying person,或者why did you unfollow me。或者在这个句子中:He updates way too often; I'm going to unfriend him.

Tweet, the next verb is tweet, to tweet. To tweet, this is we use the verb tweet. So tweet originally is associated with the sound that birds make a tweeting sound.

下一个动词是tweet。tweet最初与鸟儿发出的鸣叫声有关。

But now we use the verb to tweet as well to talk about posting short messages only on Twitter. We don't use tweet for Facebook or for Instagram or other services.

但现在我们也使用动词tweet来谈论仅在Twitter上发布短消息。我们不将tweet用于Facebook、Instagram或其他服务。

Tweet is only for Twitter. So we can use it in a sentence like: I tweet many times a day or I tweet a few times a week or he tweets way too often or you never tweet anything interesting. In this sentence: How often do you tweet?

Tweet仅适用于Twitter。例如:I tweet many times a day,或者I tweet a few times a week,或者he tweets way too often,或者you never tweet anything interesting。在这句话中:How often do you tweet?

Use a filter, the next verb is use a filter, to use a filter. This is a verb or a phrase that's applicable that we can use on Instagram.

下一个动词是use a filter。这是一个动词或短语,我们可以在Instagram上使用。

So on Instagram when you upload a picture, you can choose from what are called filters on Instagram. They make your picture look a little bit different.

在Instagram上,当您上传图片时,您可以选择所谓的Instagram滤镜。它们会让您的图片看起来有点不同。

Each filter creates a different view or a different look for your picture. So to use a filter, this is the verb that we use to talk about applying that filter, to talk about that filter on your picture.

每个滤镜都会为您的图片创建不同的视图或不同的外观。to use a filter是我们用来谈论应用该滤镜、谈论图片上的滤镜时使用的动词。

So in sentences you could say: I never use a filter on Instagram or what filter do you like to use on Instagram or have you ever used this filter or I hate that filter that you used, for example.

例如:I never use a filter on Instagram,或者what filter do you like to use on Instagram,或者have you ever used this filter,或者I hate that filter that you used。

In this sentence: I think she uses a filter for every post on Instagram.

在这句话中:I think she uses a filter for every post on Instagram.

Repost, next one, the next verb is repost, repost, to repost. We've talked about the prefix re before. So re means do again. So re plus a verb means do the verb again.

下一个动词是repost。我们之前讨论过前缀re。re表示再次做。re加动词表示再次做这个动作。

So repost, we talked about post at the beginning of this video. Re means do it again. So someone's post, we share that post, to post again.

我们在本视频开头谈到了post。Re表示再次做。我们分享某人的帖子,再次发布。

So reposting is something you do on for example Facebook or maybe Instagram. You share someone else's content again.

reposting是你在Facebook或Instagram上做的事情。你再次分享别人的内容。

So your friend posts a really interesting image on Instagram. There might be an application you can use to repost that image.

你的朋友在Instagram上发布了一张非常有趣的图片。可能有一个应用程序可用于重新发布该图片。

So and let's see example sentences: I never repost anything on Instagram or my friend reposted a really interesting photo. In this sentence: Do you know how to repost something on Instagram?

例如:I never repost anything on Instagram,或者my friend reposted a really interesting photo。在这个句子中:Do you know how to repost something on Instagram?

Retweet, the next verb is retweet. So just as we talked about with repost, we have the same thing here with tweet. Retweet means tweet again.

下一个动词是retweet。就像我们讨论过的repost一样,tweet也有同样的用法。retweet意味着再次发推文。

But this verb is only used for Twitter. Twitter can be used to retweet, meaning to share someone else's idea, someone else's tweet.

但这个动词只用于推特。Twitter可用于retweet,即分享他人的想法、他人的推文。

There's a retweet button on Twitter that you can use to share someone else's tweet.

Twitter上有一个retweet按钮,您可以使用它来分享他人的推文。

So let's see in example sentences: I hate it when people retweet a lot of things in a row. That's true.

例如:I hate it when people retweet a lot of things in a row.这是真的。

I only retweet things that I think are interesting or I try to retweet things that are funny. In this sentence: This tweet was retweeted by a lot of people.

I only retweet things that I think are interesting,或者I try to retweet things that are funny。在这句话中:This tweet was retweeted by a lot of people.

That's really hard to say. This tweet was retweeted, this tweet was retweeted by a lot of people.

这真的很难说。this tweet was retweeted by a lot of people。

Make private, okay, the next verb is make private, make private. So to make something private means you lock the account or the account is not visible, other people cannot see the account, to make something private.

下一个动词是make private。to make something private意味着您锁定帐户或帐户不可见,其他人无法看到该帐户。

If you want your social media use to be private only to people you know, for example close friends or close family, or maybe you only want to use a social media for work, you can make a private social media account.

如果您希望您的社交媒体仅对您认识的人保密,例如亲密的朋友或亲密的家人,或者您可能只想将社交媒体用于工作,您可以创建一个私人社交媒体账号。

So example sentences could be like: I decided to make my account private. Or I want to make my account private, so only my friends can see. In this sentence: I made my account private.

例如:I decided to make my account private。或者I want to make my account private, so only my friends can see。在这句话中:I made my account private.

Delete, so the next verb is delete, so to delete. When you want to delete something from a social media feed, so delete something from Facebook, delete from Instagram, delete from Twitter, there's a special there's a delete button for each post I think.

下一个动词是delete。当你想从社交媒体信息流中删除某些内容时,比如从Facebook删除某些内容、从Instagram删除某些内容、从Twitter删除某些内容,每个帖子都有一个特殊的删除按钮。

So some people choose to delete something after they've posted it. So examples could be let's see: I made a typo in a tweet, so I deleted it.

有些人选择在发布内容后删除。例如:I made a typo in a tweet, so I deleted it.

Or I was really embarrassed about that photo, so I asked my friend to delete it.

或者I was really embarrassed about that photo, so I asked my friend to delete it.

Or I accidentally shared something this morning on Facebook, and so I deleted it this afternoon. In this sentence: I decided to delete a tweet.

或者I accidentally shared something this morning on Facebook, and so I deleted it this afternoon.在这个句子中:I decided to delete a tweet.

Share, next one, the next verb is share, share, so to share something. I talked about the verbs repost and retweet. So those are used on like Instagram and on Twitter.

下一个动词是share。我谈到了repost和retweet这两个动词。它们在Instagram和Twitter上都有使用。

But to share something, this is one you can use really on any website or in any sort of internet communication. It's not a verb we only use for one specific type of social media.

但你可以在任何网站或任何类型的互联网交流中使用share这个动词。它不是只用于一种特定社交媒体的动词。

So if you're reading a blog for example you like, there are often buttons to share the blog post at the bottom of the post.

如果您正在阅读您喜欢的博客,则通常会在帖子底部有分享博客文章的按钮。

You can click share and choose the method you would like to use to share that information.

您可以单击“share”并选择要用于分享该信息的方法。

So generally sharing is caring or rather people are happy when you share their content.

通常,分享就是关心,或者说当您分享他们的内容时,人们会感到高兴。

So in sentences: Please share my blog post or please share my tweets or please share interesting content on Twitter or please share your favorite recipes with me. Let's see in this sentence: Thanks so much for sharing my post.

例如:Please share my blog post,或please share my tweets,或please share interesting content on Twitter,或please share your favorite recipes with me。让我们看看这个句子:Thanks so much for sharing my post.

Oh, that's the end. So those are ten social media-related verbs. I hope you found some verbs that were useful for you.

以上这些就是十个与社交媒体相关的动词。我希望你找到一些对你有用的动词。

We can use a lot of these verbs to talk about a lot of different things we do on the internet these days. So I think they're pretty useful.

我们可以使用很多这些动词来谈论我们现在在互联网上做的很多不同的事情。我认为它们非常有用。

Of course, you can try out these verbs if you like by posting about sharing, tweeting or maybe making an Instagram story about this video or other videos if you like.
