There are many types of work-related stress. Some stress is the result of a heavy workload, some from competition for promotions, and some from interpersonal relationships at the office. Yet another type is the feeling that you are in a “dead-end job”, “going nowhere”, or are being kept down by a “glass ceiling”. Some stress also results from a feeling that you are being discriminated against unfairly because of your gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity.

工作压力有很多种。压力有的来自繁重的工作,有的来自升职竞争,还有的来自办公室的人际关系。还有一种感觉是你在做一份“没有前途的工作”,“没有出路”,或者 “没有升迁的机会”。一些压力也来自于性别、性取向或种族而对你的不公平的歧视。

There are some types of stress. Pressure is an external condition that can accompany many circumstances with a sense of urgency and high tension. Pressure can be hard to take sometimes, but it can also be a powerful creative force, think of the pressures of competitive sports. Stress is an internal response or reaction to the difficulties and pressures one faces in life. But it is much more than this, it is a destructive force that scrambles and paralyzes the mind when one needs to use it most urgently. In addition to being unpleasant and unproductive, however, stress can also be very bad for your health.

压力(pressure)有几种类型。压力是一种外部条件,可以伴随许多情况下的紧急情况和高度紧张感。压力有时很难承受,但它也可以成为一种强大的创造力,例如,竞技体育的压力。压力(stress)是对生活中面临的困难和压力的内在回应或反应。但它远不止于此,它是一种破坏性的力量,当一个人最迫切需要使用它的时候,它会扰乱和麻痹大脑。然而,除了令人不愉快和效率低下之外,压力也对你的健康非常有害。
