AI Technology: A Revolutionary Engine for the Development of New Health Products in Traditional Chinese Medicine

With the rapid development of science and technology, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is sweeping all walks of life, and the ancient and mysterious field of traditional Chinese medicine has also ushered in the deep empowerment of AI technology. Recently, a symposium on the theme of "AI for Life and Health" was jointly hosted by the Zhejiang Alumni Association of Zhejiang University and the Zhejiang Alumni Association of Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine. Experts from well-known universities such as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, and Jiangxi University of Chinese Medicine, as well as authoritative figures from Zhejiang Chinese Medicine Association, gathered to discuss the broad prospects and infinite possibilities of AI technology in the development of new Chinese medicine health products.

At the meeting, Cao Mingfu, president of the Zhejiang Alumni Association Alliance of Chinese Universities, director of the Hangzhou Science and Technology Development Research Institute, and professor of Hangzhou Normal University, delivered a deafening keynote speech. He pointed out that the image processing technology of AI technology is like a sharp eye, which can penetrate the complex texture of the fingerprint map of Chinese medicine, and conduct high-precision depth excavation and analysis. The application of this technology has not only greatly improved the controllability and accuracy of traditional Chinese medicine, but also laid a solid foundation for the development of new products for traditional Chinese medical care.

Professor Cao Mingfu further emphasized that AI technology is not only limited to the analysis of Chinese medicine components, but can also use basic model technology to accurately find the quantitative relationship between the effective components of single Chinese medicine and the complex effective components under different formulations in the vast sea of data. This is undoubtedly a disruptive innovation in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, which breaks the limitations of traditional traditional Chinese medical research and opens up a whole new path for the development of new products for traditional Chinese health.

The introduction of end-side intelligence technology has made it possible to close the information flow of Chinese medicine health products. From R & D to production to application, end-side intelligence technology can monitor, collect and analyze data in real time, providing a valuable real-world data basis for the secondary development of products. The application of this technology will undoubtedly greatly promote the modernization and internationalization of Chinese medicine products.

At the symposium, the guests discussed the application prospects, challenges and opportunities of AI technology in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. With the help of AI technology, the researchers at the university can quickly screen out potential Chinese medicine components, optimize formulations, and improve the success rate of new drug development.

Won the 2020 China Association for the Promotion of Traditional Chinese Medicine Zhongjing Medical Branch held the eighth session of the Medical Saint Zhongjing Nanyang Forum "Classic Prescription Famous Doctor" honorary title. The winner of the first Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei "Pingui Cup" Yanzhao Medical Research Essay Award in 2023. The story was featured in the fourth edition of Current Scientist in 2024.
