1)as soon as 引导时间状语从句表示主句和从句的动作相继发生,译为“一….就….”
例:
As soon as relations improve they will be allowed to go
一旦关系有所改善,他们就可以获准离开。
The new building programme will go ahead as soon as the government releases the funds.
政府一拨付资金,新的建筑项目就动工。
They quarreled as soon as the wedding ceremony ended.
婚礼一结束他们就吵起来。
As soon as the kids arrived, order went out of the window.
孩子们一到,一切就都乱了套。
2)no sooner… than和hardly/barely/scarcely… when(before)…也表示“一….就….”
主句谓语动词要用过去完成时,从句谓语动词用一般过去时,如果no sooner和hardly放在句首,句子要用倒装语序。
No sooner had we sat down at the table than the phone rang.
我们刚在桌子旁坐下,电话铃就响了。
We had hardly/scarcely/barely sat down at the table, when the phone rang.
我们刚在桌子旁坐下,电话铃就响了。
Hardly/Scarcely had we sat down at the table, when the phone rang.

3)immediately, directly, instantly,也可用作连词,引导时间状语从句,表示“一….就….”。
例:Immediately she'd gone, I remembered her name.
她刚走开我就想起了她的名字。
I went home directly I had finished work.
我一干完活就回家了。
He realized his mistake instantly he saw the results.
他一看到结果就意识到了自己的错误。
4)the moment, the minute, the second,the instant也可以表示“一….就….”。
例:
You can bet the moment I sit down, the phone will ring.
几乎可以肯定,我一坐下,电话铃就会响起来。
I want to see him the moment he arrives.
希望他一到我就见到他。
I had bolted the door the instant I had seen the bat.
我一看到蝙蝠就把门闩上了。
I loved you the instant (that) I saw you.
我一见到你就爱上你了。
The instant I saw him, I knew that he was angry with me.
我一见到他,就知道他在生我的气。
The minute you do this, you'll lose control
你一旦做了这件事,就会失去控制。

5)once:表示某个动作或事件一旦发生,另一个动作或事件就立即发生。
Once he arrives, we can start.
他一到,我们就可以开始。
6)on/upon doing
Upon going out of the room, Jack heard his cellphone ringing.
杰克一走出房间,就听到他的手机响了。
Upon arriving at the airport, I realized I had left my passport at home.
一到机场我才意识到我把护照落在家里了。
On arriving home I discovered they had gone.= As soon as I arrived home, I discovered they had gone.= On my arrival home I discovered they had gone. ( on/upon doing必须注意,后面句子主语就是前面doing 动作的发出者。)
我一到家就发现他们已经离开了。
On arriving at the village, these college students went to help the farmers with their work.=As soon as they arrived at the village, these college students went to help the farmers with their work.= On their arrival at the village, these college students went to help the farmers with their work. ( on/upon doing必须注意,后面句子主语就是前面doing 动作的发出者。)
这些大学生一到村里就去帮助农民工作。
7) hardly/scarcely …… when …… 这一句式也可表示“一 …… 就 ……”, 用法同 no sooner …… than ……, 两者可以换用。
He had scarcely entered the office when the telephone rang.
Scarcely had he entered the office when the telephone rang.
他刚进办公室,电话铃就响了。
He had hardly arrived home when they rang him up for the office.
他刚到家,他们就给他打电话要他去办公室。
I had scarcely walked in the door when my dog came rushing to greet me.
我刚一进门,我的狗就冲过来迎接我。
He was scarcely awake when he heard the knock at the door.
他刚醒来就听见有人敲门。
Scarcely had he done so when a tremendous roar just behind him nearly frightened him to death.
他刚这么做,身后就传来一声巨响,几乎把他吓死了。
Scarcely had she finished her speech when the audience started cheering.

8) had just done ... when ...
例:I had just gone to bed after a very hard day when the phone rang.
在劳累了一天之后我刚刚就寝,电话铃就响了。
