外国人在中国可以从事的工作类型有很多种，正常入职公司一般是最常见的，这种情况外国人一般需要申请长期的工作签证，但也有很多外国人入境只是短期从事一项工作，并非入职企业，这种情况下，外国人就需要申请短期工作签证，

Advantages of short-term work permit:
短期工签的优势：
1.the application time is fast, about 10 working days to complete;

2. the required materials are simple, such as short-term work model, the applicant only needs to prepare passport information materials and health certificates;
2.所需材料简单，如模特类短期工作的，申请人仅需准备护照信息材料和健康证明；
3.and long-term work visa is the same as legal employment, protected by labor law;
3.和长期工签相同属于合法就业，受劳动法保护；
4.allow to work in more than one employer, but need to list the name of all the work city (no more than 5) when applying.
4.允许在多个用人单位工作，但需申请时列明全部工作城市名称（不超过5个）。
Disadvantages of short-term work permit:
短期工签的劣势：
1.the maximum valid time is 90 days, and can not be extended;
1.最长有效时间为90天，且不能延期；
2.there are limits on the scope of application, not any job can apply for short-term work visa, for work beyond the scope of application, should apply for long-term work visa, according to the application requirements of long-term work visa, and the meaning of short-term work visa is not equal to business M visa or visit F visa;
2.有适用范围限制，并非任何工作都能申请短期工签，对于超适用范围的工作，应申请长期工签，按照长期工签的申请要求办理，且短期工签意义不等同于商务M签或访问F签；
3.holders of Z visa, stay for less than 30 days, do not apply for work residence permits, stay for more than 30 days (including 30 days), need to apply for work residence permits.
