有些自阿拉伯的-ior结尾的形容词本身没有比较级和最高级，但是与介词to连用可以表示比较含义（注意：不能与than连用，也不能与more连用），这类词常见各类考试之中的有以下4对具有相关意义的重点词汇：
（1）inferior（比……低劣的），superior（比……更好的），如：Their performance was inferior/superior to that of other teams.
他们队表现得不如其他队/比其他队好。
Modern music is often considered inferior to that of the past.
现代音乐常被认为不如过去的。
He preferred the company of those who were intellectually inferior to himself.
他喜欢与那些智力水平不如他的人共处。

interior（内部的）, exterior（外部的）, ulterior（隐秘的）, major（主要）的, minor（次要的、较小的）这5个词，已经失去了他们本来表示“比较”的意思，现在都当原级形容词使用了。
